Laura Hetherington was Head of Learning for the National Trust until April 2008. She has over 20 years experience of education, interpretation and learning at grass roots and strategic levels.

For the National Trust, Laura oversaw the delivery of innovative approaches to learning across the organisation at over two hundred sites, developed their far-sighted Vision for Learning, developed their Contemporary Arts and Arts Education policies, developed interpretation strategies and led on education policy.

She directed the National Trust Theatre, developed arts programmes, managed Countryside and Heritage education programmes and devised and managed a variety of evaluation methods.

Laura devised and led many training programmes and facilitated numerous workshops from change management to interpretation to personal development.

Laura also has many years teaching and lecturing experience as well as experience of directing and devising theatre, facilitating workshops through drama and storytelling and developing Live Interpretation.

Laura has a BA (Hons) in Drama and English and a P.G.C.E. in Drama in Education.

Jacq Barber worked in the National Trust’s central office for over five years, as Gardens Press Officer and then as Senior Press Officer, promoting a wide range of the Trust’s work. She has run many high profile national PR campaigns, including gaining widespread national media coverage for the first ever report into Climate Change and Gardens.

She was responsible for project managing all aspects of the National Trust’s successful stands at the Chelsea Flower Show over four consecutive years and has worked on major acquisition stories for the Trust, including Agatha Christie’s summer home at Greenway and William Morris’s Red House.

Jacq is also a freelance writer and regular contributor to the National Trust magazine and the Antiques Trade Gazette – a national weekly newspaper – which reflects her ten years’ experience working at two of London’s leading auction houses, Phillips and Bonhams.

She was responsible for highly successful press and publicity campaigns for a range of exhibitions while working at the V&A and the Bethnal Green Museum of Childhood.
